TURN is hiring for the following position:
Hotline Paralegal
Tenant Union Representative Network (TURN) seeks Hotline Paralegals committed to advocacy on behalf of low-income marginalized people to join the Tenant Rights Unit. TURN works to address the racial and economic inequities in housing across Philadelphia. While the duties and responsibilities may shift over time, the mission will always remain the same: to ensure that all Philadelphians have access to safe, decent, and affordable housing.
The primary duty of the Hotline Paralegal will be answering calls to the Philly Tenant Hotline and providing callers with brief information related to landlord-tenant issues, referrals to other TURN services, and referrals to other social and legal services organizations. Careful data recording and attention to detail is an integral part of the position. Hotline paralegals may also be asked to support advocacy and organizing projects; as part of our frontline staff, hotline paralegals help identify issues that need change and amplify tenants’ voices in the movement.
No prior experience working as a paralegal is required; paralegals will be trained and supervised by attorneys and are expected to learn and become well-versed in basic landlord-tenant laws.
All TURN employees are currently working remotely, but are expected to work from the office beginning in early September.
We are hiring for multiple hotline paralegal positions.
