19 Aug Welcoming Our New Executive Director
Nicole Lawrence has been appointed as the new Executive Director of Tenant Union Representative Network (TURN), effective July 1, 2021. Before becoming Executive Director, Nicole worked in the capacity as the Deputy Executive Director to Phil Lord, who retired as of June 30, 2021.
Nicole has had a long and distinguished career at TURN which spans more than two decades. She is an expert in managing tenant rights counseling and rental subsidy programs in the city of Philadelphia. She has a master’s degree in business with a concentration in Organizational Leadership. Her most recent certifications are from the Philadelphia Urban League and the University of Pennsylvania. She has also served on the city’s HIV Planning Committee and the Philadelphia board of the Federal Emergency Food and Shelter Program for many years.
Nicole has a demonstrated commitment to TURN’ s mission and will work to expand TURN’s community and outcome-based approach to providing housing counseling and supportive services. She is a strong and experienced advocate for furthering the basic human rights of all people, particularly low-income renters and will continue the important work addressing the challenges of a housing system that unjustly does bodily harm to those who are most vulnerable.
The Board of TURN is pleased to welcome Nicole into her new role as Executive Director.
